Difference Between Sports And Recreation
Sports are organized competitive physical activities and exercises. These satisfy the need for physical exercise, play and competition among people. All sports are competitive; however, this is the main difference between sports and leisure, recreation or even social activities. Sports generally involve a set of activities that require skill and physical endurance. These physical activities are practiced by using the feet, joints and muscles in both standing and sitting positions and using different throwing and hitting tools.
Sports are very popular all over the world and they have become a part of our life, but many people don’t realize how much they are actually required for health and well-being. Sports not only help people build their strength and improve their coordination, but sports also keep them healthy and fit. Sports improve the cardiovascular system and respiratory system and improve lung capacity, which help people in avoiding sudden illnesses and are very useful during travel. A number of studies have also revealed that sports, when combined with recreational activities like gardening and dancing, have positive effects on mood, self-esteem, and attitude, and reduce levels of stress, depression and anxiety.
Although different sports require different skills, most sports require some degree of skill and fitness. The most important requirement for sports recreation is flexibility. Sports people need to be agile, flexible, strong and fast; they should be capable of performing different movements without breaking into a sweat. Sports give you a perfect opportunity to go through different physical challenges and at the same time build your stamina, coordination, endurance and agility.
